WHO WE ARE

Full-time, in-office (Santa Ana, CA)  

Salary: $65-$95k starting (based on capability and potential)

At VANROOY, we design hospitality spaces with the understanding that beautiful design is only one part of the equation. The work also has to operate well, communicate clearly, support staff, support guests, and hold up under real-world pressure.

All of us come from hospitality backgrounds ourselves … hotels, restaurants, food and beverage. We understand the pace, the moving parts, the unpredictability, and the level of detail required to make an experience feel effortless.

We tend to work best with people who are naturally curious, highly observant, collaborative, and comfortable solving problems as a team. People who notice things. People who care about how something feels, not just how it photographs.

Our projects are hands-on and deeply collaborative. We stay close to the work from concept through construction, working directly with owners, operators, consultants, and builders throughout the process. We value communication, accountability, adaptability, and people who are willing to jump in when things get complicated.

This is not a “design from a distance” studio.

It’s a team environment built around trust, high standards, thoughtful execution, and a genuine respect for hospitality as an industry.

If you’ve worked in hospitality before, you already understand a lot of what matters to us.

THE ROLE

This is not a “content creator” role in the traditional sense.

This is an opportunity to help build a brand that becomes impossible to ignore.

You will start by executing the VANROOY Marketing Playbook … learning how we think, how we communicate, and how we show up. From there, you will help systemize, refine, and eventually evolve it.

You will work directly with our founders … daily.
You will be expected to bring ideas … not wait for them.
You will help translate design thinking into content that attracts the right clients and builds real authority.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

Phase 1: Learn + Execute

  • Execute the VANROOY Marketing Playbook across platforms: 
      • Instagram
      • Facebook 
      • Meta A/B advertising 
      • LinkedIn (VANROOY + Christine + Jerry profiles) 
  • Create and schedule: 
      • ~5 posts/week (IG/FB) 
      • Ongoing stories (~3/week minimum) 
      • 1 LinkedIn post/week per profile 
  • Develop content that is: 
      • design-forward 
      • editorial in tone 
      • aligned with VANROOY’s level of taste 
  • Collaborate closely with founders to: 
      • extract ideas 
      • script content 
      • direct on-camera presence (we are the face… you guide it) 
  • Use tools like: 
      • Adobe Creative Suite (preferred) 
      • Canva / Adobe Express 
      • Later (scheduling) 
      • Mailchimp (email) 
      • OneDrive (organization) 
      • AI tools like ChatGPT + Claude

 Phase 2: Systemize + Optimize

  • Build a content system that includes:
      • clear posting cadence
      • content pillars
      • internal deadlines
      • review + approval workflows
      • performance tracking + insights
  • Create a process that feels consistent, intentional, and repeatable
  • Ensure nothing feels rushed, off-brand, or reactive
  • Help define what “working” actually looks like (engagement, inquiries, growth)

Phase 3: Expand + Lead

  • Build out a team (as needed based on Marketing budget)
  • Build out systems and manage them.
  • Launch and manage monthly email newsletters 
  • Update and maintain Website portfolios 
  • Submit projects to: 
    • Publications 
    • Competitions 
  • Support Conference placements & Speaking opportunities
  • Consider expantion into:
      •  Youtube
      • Tictock

At this stage … you are no longer just executing.
You are helping lead and compensation structure will change.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

 

We are not hiring based on a resume. We are hiring based on how you think. 

You might be a perfect fit if you are: 

  • Obsessive about design, branding, and aesthetics  
  • Already creating content on your own (for yourself or others)  
  • Self-taught and resourceful… you figure things out  
  • Opinionated… you have ideas and are willing to share them  
  • Unconventional… you didn’t follow a perfect path, but you’re driven  

You should be comfortable: 

  • Working in a fast-paced, idea-driven environment  
  • Receiving direct, honest feedback (we move quickly and expect iteration)  
  • Taking creative risks… with reasoning behind them  
  • Owning your work from idea → execution → refinement  

You should have: 

  • Strong visual taste (this is non-negotiable)  
  • Ability to create editorial, lifestyle, design-forward content  
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator (or equivalent tools)  
  • Understanding of social platforms and content flow  

You do not need a degree.  You do need drive, curiosity, and standards.  

 

DEAL BREAKERS 

 

This will not work if you: 

  • Wait to be told what to do  
  • Play it safe creatively  
  • Produce templated or low-taste work  
  • Struggle with direct feedback  
  • Miss deadlines or lack follow-through  
  • Need constant validation  

Also… character matters. 

We are building something meaningful. We expect: 

  • Respect  
  • Integrity  
  • Awareness of how you show up publicly (in all areas of life).  
  • Consistancy

 

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

 

You will understand VANROOY so deeply that you don’t just represent the brand … you think like it, create like it, and help shape where it goes next.

You will have built a content engine / system that reflects VANROOY with precision and edge … and it will feel like you were instrumental in shaping the brand’s voice, presence, and momentum.

It will feel like you built it alongside us … and you’re actively pushing it forward.
