VIDA Modern Taqueria

Set in the heart of Riviera Village, VIDA is a modern taqueria that radiates heart, heritage, and a little heat. South Bay locals Mickey and Justin brought the flavor and vibe. Based on their ideas, we crafted a bright, immersive space where hand-crafted tacos meet high design, blending Baja soul with East LA comfort—and just a dash of beachy cool.
Custom VANROOY created graphic murals echo the VIDA brand, wrapping the space in color and movement. Slatted wood ceilings, handpicked tile, and mixed seating create a playful rhythm throughout. From natural woods to bold color pops, every material was selected to be as warm and welcoming as the people behind the counter. We designed with intention, balancing order and energy, and made sure it all flows effortlessly from sidewalk to barstool.
The result? A space that’s fresh, familiar, and full of life—just like the food.

Vida’s design project was especially meaningful to us—it was our first restaurant, and we wanted it to set the tone for everything that would follow. Our goal was to capture the fun and energy of a taqueria, while still creating a space that felt elevated and design-forward for modern Mexican cuisine. The Vanrooy’s understood our needs from the start and brought it to life magically.
They made a relatively small footprint feel open, fresh, and full of character. Through the use of bold color, playful touches, and beautiful stone for our bar top (the heart of the restaurant), they created a space that feels vibrant and inviting without ever feeling overcrowded or overdone.
They are the only ones we trust to do our design work, we have worked closely with them on multiple projects and will continue to do so in the future – it is rare that you find like-minded people who want to understand the subtle nuisances of the community you operate in to truly bring the project full circle.
